Services:

A service celebrating the life of Myrtle K. Roop will be held on Wednesday, December 2, 2015, at 10:30 AM at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 W. Main St., Peru, IN with Reverend Adam Mauman officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Peru, IN.
Family and friends will gather from 4:00-8:00 PM Tuesday at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home.

Myrtle K. Roop, 92, of Peru, passed away at 7:25 PM, Friday, November 27, 2015, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Peru. She was born in Dunton, MI, on June 12, 1923, the daughter of Pearlie and Flaura Morrison Saltz. Myrtle married Martin F. Roop November 2, 1940 in Willis, MI. and he preceded her in death on Dec. 4, 1997.
Myrtle was graduate of Lincoln High School, Washtenaw County, MI and was a General Tire employee for more than 15 years. She was a member of Gamma Nu Sorority and the Women of the Moose. An avid card player, Myrtle played Euchre five days a week and was affectionately known as the “Euchre Queen”. She was a talented seamstress and loved sewing, knitting and cooking.

Myrtle is survived by a daughter Darleen Grady and her husband John, Peru, IN, a son John Roop and his wife Mary, Idaho; grandchildren Marie Roop, Joanna Pepin and her husband Al, John Roop, Jr. and his wife Michelle, Michelle Grady, Angie Kaufman and her husband Cary, Shaun Grady and his wife Lindy, Kirsten Blakley and her husband Ryan; 16 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Martin, a son Edward L. Roop, brothers Terry Saltz, Kenneth Saltz, and Morris Saltz, sisters Thelma Stockdale, Opel Button, Shirley Witaker and Golda Houston.
