Wayne Pence Obituary

Wayne G. Pence, 86, of Kokomo passed away at 1:07 PM, Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at Howard Community Hospital. He was born in Amboy, IN on June 1, 1936, the son of Lowell and Garnet (Freeman) Pence. In 1956 Wayne married Estella Shuck and she preceded him in 1980. He then married Mary Zell in 1981 and she preceded him in 2006. Wayne later married Margaret Eisenman Swinford in 2007 and she preceded him in 2018.

Wayne was a 1954 graduate of Clay Township High School and the Owner and Operator of Living Water Christian Book Store which operated until his retirement in 2007. A man of faith, he was an active member of Amboy Friends Church for over 40 years, a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Kokomo, a member of the Gideons and served on the International Board of Friends United Meeting. Also a Farmer, Wayne was a birthright quaker and former Board of Directors of the Indiana State Seed Association.

Wayne is survived by his daughters Rhonda Ridlen and her husband Stan of Kokomo, IN and Cheryl Rush and her husband Greg of Galveston, IN; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and sister Wanita Fewell of Kokomo, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wives Estella, Mary and Margaret, son Stephen Pence and sister Wilma Ball.

A memorial gathering celebrating the life of Wayne G. Pence will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, October 9, 2022 at the First Church of the Nazarene, 2734 S. Washington St. Kokomo. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made through the Laird-Eddy Funeral Home, P.O. Box 156, Amboy, IN 46911 to the First Church of the Nazarene.
