Vivian D. (Burke) Edwards

Vivian D. Edwards, 98, of Peru, IN passed away at 7:48 P.M., Monday, March 25, 2024 at her residence. She was born in Galveston, IN, on March 20, 1926, the daughter of Lowell E. and Leah Anderson Burke. Vivian married Gerald H. Edwards on Aug. 17, 1948 and he preceded her in death on Feb. 11, 2016. Vivian was a 1945 graduate of Clay Township High School and a member of the McGrawsville Community Church. She was particularly proud of her contribution during WWII serving as a “Rosie the Riveter”. An avid assembler of jigsaw puzzles, Vivian was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved working in the flower garden, decorating and camping in the family RV. She is survived by a son, Gary (Jane) Edwards of Peru and a daughter, Marcia Harkema of Peru; 7 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren a brother Loren Burke of Las Vegas, NV and a sister Irma Dinwiddie of Kokomo, IN . Vivian was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gerald, a daughter Sharon Berkheiser and her husband Charles, a son-in-law Robert Harkema, a granddaughter Kelly Ann Edwards and a sister Marjorie Johnson. A Service celebrating the life of Vivian Edwards will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, April 1, 2024 at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 W. Main St., Peru with Pastor Ryan Ramsey officiating. Burial will in Rankin Cemetery. Family and friends will gather from 11:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M., Monday, April 1st at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made through the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home to McGrawsville Community Church or to Rankin Cemetery Fund.
