Virginia Ildefonzo, 75, of Peru, passed away at 1:35 A.M., Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at IU University Hospital, Indianapolis. She was born in Kokomo, IN on September 6, 1945, the daughter of Harry and Gladys Ward Chism. Virginia married Robert Ildefonzo on December 26, 1964 and he survives. Virginia was a 1963 graduate of Peru High School and went on to Porter Business College. She was a member of the St. Charles Catholic Church. Virginia was a passionate quilter, an avid IU basketball fan and enjoyed tending her flower gardens and raising chickens. Virginia delighted in dancing with her husband Robert and spending time with family and friends. With her passion for helping people Virginia was an Eucharistic Minister, delivering to the sick and donating her time to CASA. Surviving in addition to her husband, Robert, is a daughter Carmen Holland and Johnny Stapleton of Rochester; sons Jason Ildefonzo of Peru and Bobby Ildefonzo and his wife Pamela of Virginia Beach; grandchildren, Dylan Ildefonzo, Cyrus Holland and fiancé Lindsay Mitchell and Lexanne Holland; a sister Judy Burton of Illinois and faithful companion, her dog Rambo. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, and sisters Leota Zimmerman, Mary Foster and Janis Fiscus. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday, August 30, 2021 at St. Charles Catholic Church, 58 W. 5th St., Peru, with Rev. Gustavo Lopez officiating. Burial will be in the Metzger Cemetery. Family and friends will gather from 4:00 P.M. till 8:00 P.M., Sunday, August 29, 2021 at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 West Main St., Peru. There will be a Prayer Service at 8:00 P.M., Sunday at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made through the funeral home to Miami County Helping Hands.
