Vernon Delano Wegert

Vernon Delano Wegert, 85, of Peru passed away at 11:00 PM, Friday, March 24, 2023, at Hickory Creek Nursing Home. He was born on January 28, 1938, in Malinta, OH the son of Henry and Pearl (Nemetz) Wegert. Vern married Beverly Mishler on October 31, 1987 at the First Presbyterian Church in Peru and she preceded him on August 4, 2018.

Vern was a 1957 graduate of Peru High School and later attended Indiana University. A man of great faith and integrity, Vern was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church. He was an energetic volunteer for Meals on Wheels and regularly visited those in local nursing homes.  

Vern is survived by his children Eric Wegert and his wife Stacia of Kokomo, IN, Daniel Wegert of Louisville, KY, and Katherine Cochran and her husband Timothy of Noblesville, IN; grandchildren Tina (Ryan) Carmain, Nicholas Wegert, Daniel (Adela) Wegert, Zachary Cochran and Nichole Cochran; great grandchildren Landyn Wegert, Dominique Wegert, Abigail Carmain and Ezequiel Wegert, and a brother Dennis (Kay) Wegert.

A service celebrating the life of Vernon Delano Wegert will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 W. Main St., Peru with Pastor Mark Perry officiating. Family and friends will gather from 9:00 to 11:00 AM, Wednesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made through the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home to the First Presbyterian Church.
