Valerie K. Troyer, 64, of Peru, passed away 3:48 P.M., Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at IU Health North Hospital, Carmel. She was born in Franklin, IN on March 17, 1956, the daughter of Cleon and Telsie Tracey Doty. Valerie married Brian Troyer in Greenwood, IN on July 29, 1979 and he survives.
Valerie was a graduate of Purdue University with a Degree in Education and was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority. She received her Masters Degree from IU Kokomo, and Administrators License from Indiana Wesleyan University. Valerie taught 2nd grade in Maconaquah School Corporation for more than 35 years and had a positive influence on hundreds of students. Valerie served as Department Chair for Maconaquah 2nd grade for many years.
Valerie was a member of the McGrawsville Community Church and was a member of the Alpha Sunday School Class. She was an avid gardener and loved caring for the flowers around her home. When her children were younger, she was active in the Miami County 4-H. Brian and Valerie were ardent travelers and she was a devout Christian, whose faith guided her every endeavor.
Surviving in addition to her husband, Brian is her daughter, Rachel Troyer, Carmel, a son Jonas Troyer, Peru; a brother Dan (Rochelle) Doty, West Dundee, IL; a sister Jennifer (David) Goggin, Columbus; father-in-law John Troyer, Peru; sisters-in-law Kathryn (Larry) Stanley, Warsaw and Jayne (Scott) Boltz, Greentown; nieces and nephews Jacqueline (Chris) Lauriat, Wheaton, IL, Elizabeth Borecki, Boca Raton, FL, McClain “Mac” (Allison) Goggin, Boulder, CO, Jason (Celeste) Stanley, Indianapolis, Joseph (Brooke) Stanley, Warsaw, Rebecca (Brent) Hite, Fishers, Dr. Laura (Kevin) Stage, Kokomo and Nathan (Kayla) Boltz and fourteen great-nieces and nephews.
A service celebrating the life of Valerie K. Troyer will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, September 12, 2020 at McGrawsville Community Church, 9377 S., 300 E., Amboy, with Pastor Robert Land officiating. Burial will follow at Kokomo Zion Cemetery. Family and friends will gather from 3:00 to 7:00 P.M., Friday, September 11, 2020 at McGrawsville Community Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the McGrawsville Community Church.
