Teresa E. Jernigan, 68, of Peru, passed away peacefully with family by her side on April 16, 2025, at The Waters of Peru. She was born in Logansport, IN, on April 14, 1957, the daughter of Charles and Patricia Coder Jernigan. Teresa was a 1975 graduate of North Miami High School and retired from American Stationary. She was a woman of the open road and the great outdoors. There was nothing she loved more than hopping on her motorcycle with dearest friend Chad, family, and friends. Those rides were her freedom, her joy—a way to embrace the world’s beauty and feel truly alive. Whether they were cruising through the countryside or chasing the horizon, those moments on two wheels were where Teresa’s spirit soared. While her motorcycles were her adventure, her children and grandchildren were her heart. Teresa’s face would light up at the sight of them, and she cherished every second spent in their company. Whether she was telling them stories, at a cookout the backyard, or simply watching them grow through life, she poured her love into those precious moments and will cherish them eternally. Teresa’s love for the outdoors was a thread that ran through her life. She found peace in the rustle of leaves, the warmth of the sun, and the quiet beauty of nature. Whether she was tending her garden, taking a walk along the river, or simply sitting outside with a cup of coffee, she had a way of finding joy in the world around her. The outdoors was her sanctuary, a place where she could recharge and share her love of life with those she held dear. Teresa is survived by her sons, Jacob (Kristie) Thoden of Peru, Stephen (Brandi) Thoden of Peru, Ian (Tiffany) Thoden of Peru, and Jerimiah Thoden of Kokomo; grandchildren Landon Thoden, Tyllah Thoden, Olivia Thoden, and Aleahya Thoden; a great-grandchild Brinley Brooks; and a sister Denise Troxell. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister Tina Dagnen. Per her wishes, there will be a celebration of life at a later date.
