Stephen Rogers Obituary

Stephen P. Rogers, 83, of Denver, IN, passed away at 8:37 AM, Sunday, May 24, 2026, at the Blair Ridge Health Campus in Peru. He was born in Wabash, IN, on October 18, 1942, the son of Kenneth and Leona (Thompson) Rogers. Stephen married Wanda F. Browning on May 8, 1971 and she preceded him in death on April 22, 2007.

Stephen was a 1961 graduate of La Fontaine High School and a member of the Paw Paw Community Church. After high school he graduated from Weaver Airline Personnel School in Kansas City, MO. He then went to work as an Operations Attendant for Delta Airlines in San Francisco, CA. Not long after, he was drafted into the U.S. Army.

Stephen served in the US Army in Vietnam. His military decorations include the Vietnam Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, Marksman Rifle and the Bronze Star.

After he was honorably discharged from the Army, he spent several years working at various jobs while playing country music in venues all over Indiana, Kentucky, and Tennessee.

Once he met the love of his life, Wanda, Stephen began working in the skilled trades. Stephen retired from the Indiana Carpenter’s Union as well as Delco Electronics. Stephen was a member of the Indiana Freemasons, Wabash VFW, Wabash Elks Lodge, and the Wabash American Legion.

Stephen was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His deep love for his family was unwavering.

Stephen was an avid fisherman, hunter, and enjoyed all outdoor activities. He loved spending time in Canada, Michigan, and Florida fishing whenever he could.

Stephen is survived by his son Bradley Rogers and his wife Holly of Peru; grandchildren Kennedy Rogers of CA, Chelsea Rogers of CA, Abigail Rogers of CA, Libby Rogers of Peru, Jackson Rogers of Peru, and Logan Rogers of Peru; and a sister Patty King of Roann. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Wanda, a son Stephen P. Rogers II, and siblings Barbara Hiatt, Kenneth Rogers, David Rogers, and Jay Dee Rogers.

A service celebrating the life of Stephen P. Rogers will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, May 29, 2026 at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 W Main St. Peru, with Pastor Jason See officiating. Burial will follow in the Paw Paw Cemetery, Denver, IN, with Military Honors provided by the Miami County Military Rites Unit. Family and friends will gather for visitation from 4:00 – 8:00 PM, Thursday, May 28, 2026, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made through the funeral home to Paw Paw Community Church.
