Sharon J. (Pearcy) Heins Obituary

Sharon J. Heins, 90, formerly of Peru, passed away at 10:55 AM, Thursday, September 26, 2024, at Woodlawn Hospital in Rochester, Indiana. She was born in Kokomo, on December 21, 1933, the daughter of Lloyd and Freida Datterer Pearcy. Sharon married Paul Heins in Kokomo on May 18, 1950, and he preceded her in death in May of 1967.


Sharon was a homemaker and a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She loved her family unconditionally and always made everyone she came in contact with feel extra special. Sharon was a member of the Ladies of the Moose at Lake Manitou in Rochester, the Order of the Eastern Star in Royal Center, and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Kokomo. In her latter years, she and her companion, Darrel “Chub” Miller resided in Florida and she dearly loved the ocean and going to the beach. Fishing and dancing were two other activities that Sharon thoroughly enjoyed.


Sharon is survived by a son, Mike Heins of Peru, daughters Patricia Greer of Peru and Linda Bradway of Rochester; grandchildren Jeff Hoover, Babette Sylvain, Nanette Sherrick, Paul Sylvain, Aaron Sylvain, Sam Sylvain, Heather Rentschler, Sara Reyes, Britney Grant, Chelsie Hearth, Jody Daulton and Jaime Heins, and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Paul, her companion Chub Miller, and her sons Eddie Heins and Jerry Heins.


A service celebrating the life of Sharon J. Heins will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Homes, 84 West Main St. Peru, with Pastor Roy Jones officiating. Burial will be in Bond Cemetery, Miami County, Indiana. Family and friends will gather from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM Wednesday at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home.
