Sally J (Mumea) Brown Obituary

Sally J. Brown, 88, of Peru passed away at 12:33PM, Thursday, August 22, 2024, at Rolling Meadows Health and Rehab in LaFontaine, Indiana. She was born in Shelby, Ohio on June 25, 1936, the daughter of Jerome and Mildred Cox Mumea.


Sally was employed at Classico for more than 42 years retiring in 2008. She was a proud member of the United Steel Workers Local #2958 where she served as President until her retirement in 2008.


Sally showed us how to live life beautifully, truthfully, and with faith filled simplicity. She was humble, generous, and giving, all of which she demonstrated through her daily word and actions.


She is survived by her children Richard (June) Burwell of Peru, Shirley (Terry) Smiley of Peru, Noal Brown, Jr. of Eufaula, Alabama, and Kenneth (Julie) Brown of Peru; grandchildren, Vickie (Jason) Sampson, Crystal (Chris) Smith, Teresa (Zac) Hall, Makenna (Paul) Mikesell, and Joshua Brown; great-grandchildren, Christian Sampson, Caitlin Smith, Ethan Sampson, Caleb Smith, Madelyn Hall, Grace Sampson, and Brodie Hall; great-great-grandchildren, Colt and Henry Smith with one more on the way; and a brother, Charles Mumea of Georgia.


She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Dana Allen Brown, and two sisters, Bessie Raver and Sally Ann Cleary.


A service celebrating the life of Sally J. Brown will be held at 12 Noon, Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 W Main Street in Peru with Pastor Rod Correll officiating. Burial will be in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Mexico, Indiana. Family and friends will gather from 10AM to 12 Noon, Tuesday at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home.


In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made through the funeral home to the Scratching Post Cat Rescue in Peru.
