Russell L. Bowland

Russell L. Bowland, 99, of Converse, passed away at 10:53 am on May 31, 2021 at Century Villa Health Care & Rehabilitation in Greentown, IN. He was born in Amboy, IN on March 14, 1922 the son of Jesse E. and Emma Myers Bowland. Russell married Ruth Ancil on June 28, 1947 in Russiaville, IN and she preceded him in death on August 23, 2016. Russell retired from Chrysler in 1976 and attended Amboy United Methodist Church. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and enjoyed all of his grandchildren. He is survived by his son Ronnie Bowland and wife Dixie, Converse: grandchildren Michael Emerick, Rochester NY, Michelle Centers, Converse, Allen (Dara), Fairmount, Jesse (Maria), Kokomo, Amber (Tim Highley), Converse, and Joshua (Kayla), Richfield OH: 17 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren: sisters Virginia Rohrer, Alice Hudson, Betty Hodson, Waneta Levensky: brothers Raymond, Eugene, and Jim. Russell was preceded in death by his parents, son Randal Bowland, a daughter-in-law Debbie Bowland: sisters, Violet Lowe, Dorothy Rose, Mary Fisher, Ann (Bunch) Roseberry, Patsy Bennette, and Carol Bowland: brothers, Woodrow and Wayne Bowland. A service celebrating the life of Russell L. Bowland will be held at 12 Noon, Friday, June 4, 2021 at Laird-Eddy Funeral Home, 201 North Main Street, Amboy, IN with Rev Jim McDowell officiating. Burial will follow at Park Lawn Cemetery, Amboy. Family and friends will gather from 10:00 A.M. until 12 Noon, Friday at the Laird-Eddy funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made through the funeral home to Riley Hospital for Children.
