Ronnie Rae Green of Peru, Indiana, a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, passed peacefully on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at the age of 76.
Born in Peru, Indiana in 1948 to Richard and Barbara Boyer Longenecker, Ronnie graduated from Peru High School in 1966. While in school, she met and fell in love with her handsome husband, Howard, commencing their 57-year journey together. They were married June 8,1968 and Howard preceded her in death on February 12, 2024. Ronnie worked as a secretary at Holman Elementary School for several years and American Health Network, but her greatest passion was in being a wife, mother and grandmother.
Ronnie will forever be remembered by her children and grandchildren for her wonderful sense of humor, rhyming poems that she wrote every year for their birthdays, her love of dark chocolate which she never failed to share, though reluctantly, and her ability to make everyone feel special in her presence. She loved to bake and was a constant in the kitchen whether whipping up something for friends or merely sharing with her children. She had a green thumb and could always be found outside planting and nurturing her flowers. She loved to listen to her music and enjoyed her time on the dance floor with Howard more than anything. She had an unwavering faith that will continue to be an example to us all and was exemplified by the way she loved and cared for Howard through his final days. Her family will continue to treasure her ability to love unconditionally and always be the voice on the other end of the phone that could comfort any woe or celebrate any success.
Ronnie was preceded in death by the love of her life, husband Howard Green, her parents and sisters Pamela Emery and Danielle Pegg. She is survived by daughter Dara and her husband Todd Kinney of Carmel, Indiana; daughter Michelle and her husband Steve Nash, of Indianapolis, Indiana; daughter Diane and her husband Silouan Hogsett, of Burlington, Indiana; son Peter and his wife Sage Green, of Edgewood, Washington; grandchildren Olivia and Ava Kinney; Brittany Sims, Baylee and Gracyn Grider, and Gabrielle Hoeft and her husband Josh; and Isaac, Mary, Irene, Jude, Maximus, Georgia, Gabriel, Mercy, and Julius Hogsett and her brother Carlton G. Longenecker.
