Roger F. Bacon, 85, formerly of Peru, passed away at 6:58 PM, Friday, March 6, 2026, at the Stillwater Hospice Home in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was born in Charlevoix, MI on August 30, 1940, the son of Earl and Naomi White Bacon. After graduating from Traverse City High School, Roger entered the United States Air Force in 1958. Following his honorable discharge in 1962, he and his family moved back to Michigan until 1966 when he started working for Norfolk Southern Railroad as a brakeman and conductor until 1992. After the railroad, Roger worked various jobs driving trucks in Iowa and Indiana. He started working at Chrysler in 1998 until his retirement in 2005. Roger had a passion for working on vehicles, especially his beloved Austin Healeys. He also enjoyed fixing Volkswagen and Wheel Horse Tractors. He was a former member of the Moose, the City of Firsts VW Club, and the Wheel Horse Tractor Club. Roger is survived by his daughters Melissa Ulery and her partner Homer Gamble of Madison, IN, Melanie Jackson and her husband Alan; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings Sara Solieum, Robert “Bob E’ Bacon, and Etheleen Oaks. Per Roger’s request, there will be no services.
