Robert A. Sutero, 77 of Peru passed away Saturday afternoon, December 2, 2023, at the VA Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born in Newark, NJ on December 10, 1945, the son of Anthony and Clara Fortunato Sutero. Bob married Barbara Marmorato at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Nutley, NJ on August 21, 1971, and she survives.
Bob graduated from Bloomfield Vocational Technical High School in 1963 and was a US Air Force Vietnam Veteran. His military decorations include the Vietnam Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Air Force Good Conduct Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Ribbon. Bob was employed as the Eastern Sales Manager at Bryan Steam Corp., retiring in 2011.
Bobs greatest joys in life were his wife, family and his Roman Catholic faith. He was an active member of the St. Charles Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and the Miami County Military Rites Unit. Bob was a member of the VFW, AM Vet, American Legion and was a Trustee of the Grissom Air Museum.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Barbara, is his son Robert Sutero, II and his wife Erica of Peru; granddaughters Sarafina Sutero, Samantha Fearnow and Alexis Fearnow; grandsons Joshua Fearnow and Jacob Minns; great grandson Terrance Fearnow; brother Dennis Sutero and his wife Carmen of Clearwater, FL; sister-in-law Deborah Grady and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Barbara Anstett.
A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Robert A. Sutero will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, December 9, 2023, at St. Charles Catholic Church, 58 W. 5th St., Peru, IN with Rev. Michael Block officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Miami County Military Rites Unit. Family and friends will gather from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Friday, December 8, 2023, at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 W. Main St., Peru. There will be a prayer service at 8:00 PM, Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made through the funeral home to the Miami County Helping Hands.
