Phyllis Ann Hunt, 91, of Marion, IN passed away at 1:29 PM, Friday, July 21, 2023, at Marion General Hospital. She was born in Grant County on June 22, 1932, the daughter of Earl and Zelma (Highley) Whitlock. She graduated from Converse High School in 1950, then married her husband of 69 years, Donald B. Hunt, on October 8, 1950, and he preceded her on December 16, 2019.
A woman of faith, Phyllis was a member of Amboy Friends Church where she played piano, sang in the choir, taught bible school and Sunday school, and provided leadership for USFW. She loved her community and volunteered with the Pink Lady’s at Dukes Memorial Hospital, Miami County Helping Hands Food Bank, worked at Amboy Market and acted as accompanist for many students' solo performances. In her leisure time, Phyllis enjoyed cross stitching various projects that included a baby quilt for each of her grandchildren and great grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. She also enjoyed doing crosswords, word searches and reading.
Phyllis is survived by four children, Sally (Fred) Wolinsky of Kalona, IA, Jack (Kathy) Hunt of Amboy, IN, Zelda (Clifford) Glenn of Witchita, KS and Russell (Pamela) Hunt of Noblesville, IN; grandchildren Ryan (Madi) Hunt, Gretchen (Ervin) Battle, Katie (Adam) Wallace, Nathan (Sommer) Hunt, Peter Glenn and Michael Wolinsky; great grandchildren Oliver and Imogen Hunt, Lilly, Savannah and Caroline Hunt, Brady, Luke and Hadley Wallace and Quinn Wolinsky; and brother Max (Linda) Whitlock. In addition to her husband Donald, she was preceded in death by her parents, sister Bonnie and many beloved cousins.
A service celebrating the life of Phyllis Ann Hunt will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at Amboy Friends Church, 110 E. Pennsylvania St., Amboy, IN with Pastor Dwight Elliott officiating. Burial will be in Amboy Friends Cemetery. Family and friends will gather from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, Monday, July 24, 2023, at the Amboy Friends Church and at 10:00 AM on Tuesday prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Amboy Friends Church Food Bank and Free Meal Program.
Arrangements have be entrusted to the Laird-Eddy Funeral Home.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Suite Living Assisted Living Center for all the love, car and support the provided to Phyllis especially from the day she walked through their door. They would also like to thank the doctors, nurses, techs and therapists at Marion General Hospital for the care she received and the support giving to her family while she was there the past three weeks. The family is also very grateful for the love and friendship expressed to Phyllis over many years by Flossie Cantrell, Erhardt and Ann Ballschmidt and Randy Overman. They were especially blessed by the services provided to Phyllis Stacy Becker this summer.
