Phillip Rexroad Obituary

Phillip Gary Rexroad, 73, formerly of Mexico, IN passed away at 7:17 A.M. Friday, October 16, 2020 at Valley Baptist Medical Center Harlingen, TX. He was born in Clarksburg, WV on December 2, 1946 the son of James Kenneth and Hazel LaVaughn Yeater Dunn. Gary married Carolyn L. Debnar in Weirton, WV on December 30, 1972 and she survives.

 

Gary was a 1965 graduate of Follansbee Highschool and a 24 year U.S. Airforce veteran. His military decorations included the Airforce Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. Gary was employed at Grissom Air Force Base as the Propulsion Branch Chief beginning in 1978 and later became the Transportation Officer retiring in 2001.  

 

Gary was a member of the St. Charles Catholic Church, Peru Maennerchor, and the Circus City Sams Club. His greatest joys were his wife and family and his Roman Catholic faith where he was a regular at weekly Mass. Gary loved traveling and camping. He was a gregarious man who felt blessed to have many friends.

 

Surviving in addition to his wife Carolyn are sons Brian (Melanie) Rexroad, Albion, IN and Christopher (Jennifer) Rexroad, Ft. Wayne, IN, a daughter Leigh Anne (Mickey) Ross, Walton, IN., a brother Rodney (Rose) Dunn, Wintersville, OH., grandchildren Zachary Rexroad, Nicholas Rexroad, Caleb Rexroad, Carson Rexroad, Kaylee Ross, and Jordin Ross and a great grandson Oakley Copeland.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his step father George William Dunn and a son Sean Jason Rexroad.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Phillip Gary Rexroad will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, October 30 at the St. Charles Catholic Church at 58 W. 5th St., Peru, IN with Rev. Adam Mauman officiating. Burial will be in the Marion National Cemetery with Military Honors being provided by the Miami County Military Rites Unit. Family and friends will gather from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M., Thursday, October 29th at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home 84 W. Main St., Peru, IN. There will be a prayer service at 8:00 P.M. Thursday at the Funeral Home.

 

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Charles Catholic Church, Peru, IN, Our Lady Queen of the Universe Catholic Church, San Benito, TX, or a charity of choice through the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home.
