Philip Walker Obituary

Philip C. Walker, 76, of Peru, passed away at 10:25 P.M., Tuesday, February 28, 2023, surrounded by his loving family and listening to his beloved Rolling Stones. He was born in Aberdeen, Scotland, on June 25, 1946, the son of Clifford and Hazel Lamont Walker. Philip married Debra Boettjer Eiler on July 6, 2002, and she survives.

Phil was a 1964 graduate of Peru High School, earning his BS degree from Tri State University and his Master’s from IU, though never wavering from being an avid fan of Purdue. He worked at Peru Trust and retired from Chrysler as a Machine Operator in 2019. Phil was an Eagle Scout and a Summer Counselor at Camp Buffalo. He was a Fraternity member of Tau Kappa Epsilon and held memberships in the Moose and Maennerchor. He also was a former President of the Chamber of Commerce and a long-time member and performer in Ole Olsen. Most important to him was his service to the Peru Elks Lodge. He was a past Exalted Ruler and has been the long-time Secretary, among many other roles that he dedicated countless hours to.

Phil was also a proud and dedicated supporter of all his grandchildren. When he proudly referred to his first grandchild as "little dude", he became known ever since as "Papaw Dude". Phil was also a big supporter of the Indy 500 races, attending races nearly every year with his best friend, Brent Davis, and other friends and family members. He enjoyed many things in his life and shared them all with his loved ones: Purdue, old cars, camping trips, trips to England and Scotland, Ole Olsen plays, and many other adventures.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Debra are his daughters Amy (Jerry) Black of Peru, Patricia (John) Crowe of Peru and Sara (Dustin Bretzman) Eiler of Peru; a sister Christine (Kelly) May of Peru; grandchildren Matthew Black, Hayden Black, Trevon Crowe, Courtlynn Crowe, Landen Crowe, Drayden Bretzman and Maddox Bretzman; a niece Samantha May; and his best friend Brent Davis
