Pearline Shafer, 85, of Amboy, passed away at 4:10 P.M., Sunday, June 13, 2021 at her residence. She was born in Miami County on April 22, 1936, the daughter of Richard and Thelma Powell Allen. Pearline married Lorn Shafer at the Amboy Friends Parsonage on May 22, 1955 and he survives. Pearline was a 1954 graduate of Clay Township High School and a homemaker. She and her husband, Lorn farmed together in Miami County for many years. She worked at Senger’s Dry Goods from 1954 to 1978. Pearline also worked at LeMaster’s Florist and then was a food demonstrator for Meijer, Kroger and Walmart. Pearline was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She had a life long love of flower gardening. She was very caring, giving and hard working. Surviving in addition to her husband Lorn, are daughters Marcia (Randy) Payne of Peru, and Sharon (Rick) Ohman of Walton, a son Russell (Brenda) Shafer of Amboy; grandchildren Cory(Abby) Shafer, Kayla (Michael) Thrush, Cody (Jordan) Shafer, Cole Shafer, Owen Ohman and Evan Ohman; great-grandchildren Braden Thrush, Brody Shafer, Jaxon Shafer, and Blake Shafer and sisters Thanet Sommers of Amboy and Janet (Gene) Layman of Peru. Pearline was preceded in death by her parents and a brother-in -law Sam Sommers. A service celebrating the life of Pearline Shafer will be held at 3:00 P.M., Friday, June 18, 2021 at the Laird-Eddy Funeral Home, 201 North Main St., Amboy with Pastor Norman Snyder and Rev. Gene Oburn officiating. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery. Family and friends will gather from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M., Thursday, June 17th at the Laird-Eddy Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made through the Laird-Eddy Funeral Home to the Amboy Volunteer Fire Department or the Miami County Helping Hands.
