Parri Montgomery Obituary

Parri Lee Montgomery was born on June 1, 1964 in Gary, Indiana to parents Harvey Montgomery and Nancy (Ridenour) Montgomery. He was born smack dab in the middle of five children and although that may seem overwhelming, those kids were the best of friends. Parri attended school in Chili, IN for the early years of his childhood but eventually graduated from Lewis Cass High School in 1981.The Montgomery family lived on a farm out in Chili. In addition to the best friends he had in his family, he also met his best friend for life Chuck Correll. He moved to Galveston for a short time in his teen years and made numerous friends in the area as well. He fell in love with his high school sweetheart Lori Hollingsworth Monroe and had a beautiful daughter Amanda.

Parri had a gypsy soul, spending most of his time in the Peru area but moved around a lot in the Midwest but also ventured off to lands like Colorado. He made friends with every person he met, as well as every animal. He loved racing season, any racing: Nascar, stocks, sprints. The smell of fuel burning on a dirt track was enough for one of those light up the room smiles that only Parri was capable of, the kind that you could see the light in his eyes twinkle with joy. Fishing was a favorite as well, finding peace on the water was soothing for his soul. Parri loved being outside in nature, spending many days fishing and enjoying sunshine near the river with his faithful sidekick Brea Faith Montgomery. She was the most loyal German Shepherd, becoming as close as any family member. He never set down the roots that run deep, but had really settled into life in Peru with the majority of his siblings settling down in the area as well in the past few years.

Parri truly brought joy to every place he called home, whether that place was home for a few days or a few years, he brought the kind of life and laughter that most people yearn for. He made friends everywhere he went, he always had a story to tell and passion for people. He was the favorite uncle often telling a funny story or teaching his nieces and nephews something new and exciting. He was always willing to join in on a float trip and would laugh with you when you made a mistake, not at you. Nobody is perfect and Parri knew that and accepted everybody as they were.

Parri was called home to the Pearly Gates on April 8, 2023. As our hearts ache for the light that Parri brought to every room, we leave space for the glow and warmth he brought into our hearts. To know Parri was to know a piece of your soul you didn't know existed or was missing. He was truly one in a billion and will missed beyond belief.

Parri is survived by his daughter Amanda Hollingsworth, Peru; grandchildren Lexy Bennett and Kaydence Hollingsworth; a great-grandchild Veda Parsons and siblings Penni Parshall, Peru; Patric Montgomery, Peru, Piper Montgomery, Colorado and Pammi Bowen , Peru. Parri was preceded in death by both of his parents.
