Nina E. Bowland, rural Kokomo, passed away on Friday, May 10th at her home with her daughter, Paula, by her side. She was born in Wells County, IN, on November 22, 1925, the daughter of Vern and Delora (Twible) Oden.
A great lady, who as a child, went through the great Depression. Through the years she told many stories about it and how the family made do on very little. Nina was a 75 year member of her church, Amboy United Methodist, which is now known as the Church of Hope. She was very active in her church. When the door was open Nina was there serving in several capacities She was a wonderful dairy farmer’s wife. At meal time, always serving us hot meals. She enjoyed cooking, baking and canning everything she could. Her passion was making beautiful bread and rolls.
On March 20, 1949, in Amboy, IN. she married Clyde R. Bowland and he preceded her in death on December 25, 2011. She is survived by a son Charles Bowland and his wife Mary Lou of rural Kokomo, a daughter, Paula Givens of rural Kokomo who was married to the late Neal Givens and two granddaughters Janeale (Johnny) McKee of Indianapolis and Jamie Givens (significant other Dave Lutton) of Noblesville. Also surviving is a sister-in-law and several nieces and nephews. Four sisters and one brother preceded her in death.
A service celebrating the life of Nina E. Bowland. Will be held at Laird-Eddy Funeral Home, 201 N. Main St, Amboy, IN. at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, May 15, 2024 with Pastor Bruce Mughmaw officiating, Buril will be in Park Lawn Cemetery. Family and friends will gather from 1:00-2:00 PM, Wednesday at the Laird- Eddy Funeral Home.
