Mary (Steininger) Nordenbrock

Mary Nordenbrock, 85, of Peru, passed away a Thursday, April 15, 2021 at her residence surrounded by her loving children. She was born in Rochester, IN on February 7, 1936, the daughter of Omer R. and Ida “Belle” Woodcox Steininger. Mary married Frederick Nordenbrock at Westover AFB, Mass, on January 28, 1956 and he preceded her in death on February 12, 1999. Mary graduated from Rochester High School in 1954 and enlisted in the U. S. Air Force. She was a full time homemaker and lovingly raised her family. Mary returned to work as a bookkeeper at Gallahan Oil Co. for 16 years, she also worked at American Stationary for a few years before retiring. In her “Golden” years of retirement, she volunteered at Dukes Memorial Hospital, Miami County Helping Hands, and American Red Cross. Mary was a faithful and active member of St. Charles Catholic Church, where she willingly devoted her time without hesitation. Mary was an avid gardener and enjoyed reading in her spare time. Mary is survived by her children, Debra (Richard) Glassburn, (Peru), Susan (Michael) McDowell, (Indianapolis), Linda Lester (Eric Meyer), (San Antonio, TX), Michael (Gail) Nordenbrock, (Crawfordsville), Laura (John) Donaldson, (Westfield); a brother Donald Steininger, ( OH)); 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fred; a son of almost 3 years of age, Stephen; an infant daughter of 2 days, Nancy; two sisters, Loretta Rawlins and Judith Murtaugh; a brother Ronald Steininger; 2 grandchildren and a great-grandchild. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, April 22, 2021 at St. Charles Catholic Church, 58 W. 5 th St., Peru with Fr. Kyle Neterer officiating. Burial will follow at St. Charles Catholic Cemetery. Family and friends will gather from 6:00 to 8:00P.M. on Wednesday, April 21st at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 W. Main St., Peru. There will be a Prayer Service at 8:00 P.M. April 21st at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made through the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home to Miami County Helping Hands, St. Vincent DePaul or the St. Charles Catholic Church Building Fund.
