Marvin G. Walker, 91, of Peru passed away at 2:55 PM, Monday, May 30, 2022, at Dukes Memorial Hospital in Peru. He was born in Peru on January 7, 1931, the son of Ralph and Ruth Robertson Walker. Marv married Wilma J. McQuinn at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Kokomo on June 16, 1956 and she survives. Marv was a 1949 graduate of Peru High School and a member of the St. Charles Catholic Church. He was employed as a cable repair man for Indiana Bell for 39 years, retiring in 1993. Marv was a Korean War Veteran, was a member of the 7th Infantry Honor Guard in Korea and his military decorations include the Combat Infantry Badge, the Korean Service Medal with two bronze stars, United Nations Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. He was an active member of the Miami County Military Rites Unit, former Faithful Navigator of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Paul A. Welsh Assembly #2114, and former Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus Cardinal O’Hara Council #718. Marv was a member of the American Legion and Miami County VFW Post 2067. He was an avid coon hunter and a member of the Wabash Valley Coon Hunter’s Association. He is survived by his sisters Janet (Frank) Jedliskowski of Philadelphia, Pa, Bonnie (Clyde) Chilcutt of Peru, Sharon (Donald) Weeks of Columbia City, IN and Nancy Weeks of Peru, IN; and a brother James (Tyra) Walker of Peru, IN. A service celebrating the life of Marvin G. Walker will held at 11:00 AM, Friday, June 3, 2022 at St. Charles Catholic Church, 58 W. 5th St., Peru with Rev. Adam Mauman officiating. Burial with Military Rites provided by the Miami County Military Rites Unit will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. Family and friends will gather from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Thursday, June 2, 2022 at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 W. Main St., Peru. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM, Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made through the funeral home to St. Charles Catholic Church or the Miami County Military Rites Unit.
