Martha B (Hoover) Koontz

Martha B. Koontz, 81, of Peru, passed away at 6:38 A.M., Monday, April 25, 2022 at Dukes Memorial Hospital. Martha was born in Logansport, IN on September 13, 1940, the daughter of William and Beulah Cooper Hoover. She married Joseph Koontz on May 16, 1959 and he preceded her in death on April 24, 2019. Martha was a 1958 graduate of Tipton Township High School and enjoyed going to festivals and mushroom hunting in the Spring. She and her husband owned and operated Fashion Cleaners in Peru. Martha also worked at Dukes Memorial Hospital, the Miami County Clerk’s Office and Walgreens. Martha is survived by her children Terri (Mark) Kistler of Logansport, Fran (Randy) Hileman of Denver, IN, Liz (Don) Ousley of Peru, Jennifer (Mark) Cardwell of Peru and Lori (Greg) Hartleroad of Peru; a daughter-in-law Barbara Koontz; grandchildren Christopher Kistler, Josh Kistler, William Kistler, Sean Kistler, Jeromy Hileman, Amber Hileman Kercher, Christen Ousley Lowe, Jon Ousley, Rachel Ousley Colwell, Megan Cardwell Perez, Justin Hartleroad and Kaylie Hartleroad and numerous great-grandchildren; a brother Hiram (Stella) Hoover of Kewanna; a sister-in-law Joyce (Hoover) Rose; a brother-in-law Larry Baker and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Martha was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joe, a son Joseph J. Koontz, a brother William Hoover and a sister Ellen Hoover Baker. A service celebrating the life of Martha B. Koontz will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, April 30, 2022 at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 W. Main St., Peru with Pastor Jim Butler officiating. Burial will be at the Walton Cemetery. Family and friends will gather from 11:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M, Saturday at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made through the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home to the Shriner’s Hospital of Chicago.
