Martha Jean (Heisterberg) Hall Obituary

Martha J. Hall, 88, of The Villages, FL, passed away at 6:14 AM, Thursday, August 28, 2025, at Cornerstone Hospice. She was born on May 6, 1937, the daughter of Ervin and Alice Luke Heisterberg. Martha married John Hall on February 9, 1958 and he preceded her in death on March 27, 2018. Martha was a 1954 graduate of Crown Point High School. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree from Purdue University and her Master’s Degree from University of New York at Buffalo. Martha went on to become a teacher, educating students for 30 years before retired from Peru High School in 1996. Martha was an avid gardener, often finding joy by working in the yard tending to her plants. When she wasn’t outside in the garden, Martha often enjoyed creating artwork for her to enjoy or gift to friends. Martha enjoyed being a part of something larger than herself, always trying to find organizations that she could join to help others. This led to her becoming a member of the Purdue Alpha Lamda Delta, Purdue Tomahawk, Kappa Delta Pi, Tri Kappa, and the American Red Cross. Martha is survived by her granddaughter, Courtney and her wife Kelli Swoveland of FL; great-grandchildren Devlin Mackey, and Jade Swoveland; siblings Jon and Karel Heisterberg of NC; and a son-in-law Jeff North of AZ.. Martha was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John, and her children Tracy Hall and Amy (Hall) North. Per Martha’s request, a private burial will occur in Hoopeston, IL at a later date.
