Marlene (Eikenberry) Doran

Marlene Doran, 92, of Peru, passed away at 7:32 P.M., Sunday, June 2, 2024 at The Waters of Peru. She was born in Peru, IN on February 2, 1932, the daughter of Arvil R. and Lenora (Martindale) Eikenberry. Marlene married Joseph M. Doran at the First Baptist Church in Peru on February 10, 1951 and he preceded her in death on September 25, 2015. Marlene was a 1949 graduate of Peru High School and worked at Fitzgerald Jewelers and then at Becker Mock Insurance. Her enthusiasm for ceramics led her to open Dust N Brush (1978 – 1990) leading her to teach classes and travel to ceramic shows to sell her handmade items. Then she opened the Cozy Cupboard Gift Shoppe 1990 – 2000 when she retired, but her favorite title was homemaker where she devoted her time and love to her family. Marlene enjoyed traveling, fishing and camping with Joe in their motorhome. Surviving are her children Cheryl (Lawrence ) Snyder of Peru, Deborah Morris of Peru and Mark (Valerie) Doran of Decatur, IL; grandchildren Matthew (Lisa) Murphy, Sean Murphy, Katharine (Adam) Brehmer, Emily (Michael II) Curtis, Alison (Theo) Schimper, Andrew (Dakota) Doran; great-grandchildren Isabella Murphy, T.J. Murphy, Anna Brehmer, Otto Brehmer, Rocco Brehmer, Michael Curtis III, Maverick Curtis and Finley Schimper. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband of 64 years, Joe and siblings Joseph Eikenberry, George Eikenberry, Glen Eikenberry, Richard Eikenberry and LaVaughn Brown. A Memorial Service celebrating the life of Marlene Doran will be held at 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 West Main St., Peru with Pastor Rod Correll officiating. In lieu of flower, memorial donations may be made through the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home to Miami County Helping Hands.
