Marie Childers

Marie Childers, 79, formerly of Peru passed away at 9:35 A.M. on Thursday, October 8, 2020 in Casa Grande, AZ. She was born in Hazard County, KY on May 1, 1941 the daughter of Colson and Myrtle Cambell. Marie married Marion Childers on March 22, 1960 and he preceded her in death on February 20, 1988.

Marie attended the East Gate Community Church and was a home maker. It was in her role as family matriarch that most will remember her. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, and her grand babies were the focal point of her existence. Marie loved painting, crocheting and enjoyed playing games on her computer.

She is survived by daughters Mary (Derrick) Chapman of Casa Grande, AZ and Nancy (Jerry) Howard of Peru; grandchildren Jessica Childers, William Childers, Jonathon (Sherida) Muncey, Kalistae (Nick) Hine, Larissa (Justin) Valentine, Jerry Howard Jr., Wade (Sarah) Howard and 16 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Marion and her son Thomas Childers.

A service celebrating the life of Marie Childers will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 W. Main St., Peru with Rev. Steve Wayman officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Mexico, IN. Family and friends will gather from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Monday, October 19, 2020 at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home.
