Lydia Bontrager Obituary

Lydia Mae Bontrager, 98, Arlington, Washington, went to be with the Lord March 19, 2023, at 2:45 PM. She was born to Joas and Magdalena (Hochstedler) Gingerich, March 8, 1925. She married Floyd J. Bontrager, December 12, 1949.

Together they had four children, Larry Dee (wife Patricia) of Kokomo, Indiana, Darlene Kay, Betty Jane (husband Edward Fobert), Ronald Ray (wife Rachel) of Arlington, Washington. She has 12 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.

Those preceding her in death are her husband Floyd, her parents Joas and Mattie, daughters Darlene and Jane, daughters-in-law Nancy and Corrine, son-in-law Edward, and great grandson Ethan.

She enjoyed being a homemaker and farm wife and was very devoted in raising her children in the Lord. Quilting was a hobby she enjoyed very much until her eyes started failing her. She kept a diary throughout her many years and has many volumes which will be enjoyed by others for years to come.

In spite of failing health in her later years, she stayed very positive and continued to be a prayer warrior for her family and friends.

She moved to Oregon in the early 1990's, and to Washington in 2004, and accumulated family and friends. A service is planned for her on March 27, 2023, 12:30 PM, at Atonement Free Lutheran Church, Arlington, Washington.

Since she was born and resided in Indiana until the early 1990's, a service is planned at Howard Miami Mennonite Church, Kokomo, IN,. on March 30, 2023, with Pastor Lee Miller officiating. Visitation is from 10-12 with a funeral service and burial following.

Condolences can be made to Christian Aid Ministries in lieu of flowers at christianaidministries.org.
