Lester Miller

Lester Miller, 82, of Peru passed away on January 20, 2023, at his vacation home in Avon Park, FL. He was born in Miami County, IN on October 26, 1940, the son of Perry H. and Mary (Gingerich) Miller. Lester married Savilla Yoder in Centerville, MI on November 20, 1960 and she preceded him in death on April 29, 1997. On November 8, 1997, he married Marilyn (McQueen) Ewing in Summitville, IN and she survives. Lester attended Clay Township School and was an active member of the Emmanuel Free Will Baptist Church. He worked as a farmer and owned and operated Miller & Son Excavating for many years. Ever the adventurer, Lester loved camping, salmon fishing and being outdoors, working and helping others. He also enjoyed the time he spent traveling and staying at his home in Florida playing games and working on the ranch. Surviving in addition to his wife Marilyn are daughters Sharon (Don) Raines of New Castle, IN, Marlene (Wesley) Hornberger of New Madison, Ohio, Shirley (Steve) Haynes of Wabash, IN, and son Galen (Chenoa) Miller of Amboy, daughter-in-law, Lori Miller of Liberty, NC; step children Saundra Patrick of Salem, IN and Paul (Yvette) Ewing of Dellroy, OH; 22 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren, 5 step great grandchildren; brothers Ray (Becky) Miller and Lloyd (Sue) Miller; sister Millie Zody and sister-in-law Roberta Miller, numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Glenn Miller, 3 great grandchildren, sister Dorothy Miller and brothers Ivan Miller and Perry Miller, Jr. A service celebrating the life of Lester Miller will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, January 30, 2023, at Emmanuel Free Will Baptist Church, 129 Southwood Dr., Wabash, IN, with Pastor Don Raines officiating. Burial will follow in Christner Cemetery. Family and friends will gather Saturday, January 28th from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M., Sunday, January 29th from 2:00 to 8:00 P.M. and Monday, January 30th from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M., all at the Emmanuel Free Will Baptist Church. In lieu of flower memorial donations may be made through the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 W. Main St., Peru, IN for Life Church Avon Park, Florida.
