Judy C (Schroeder) Rice

Beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Judy C. Rice, 79, of Peru passed away at 4:15 AM, Thursday, September 30, 2021 at her residence. She was born in Buffalo, NY on June 11, 1942 the daughter of Elmer and Caroline Hoffmann Schroeder. Judy married Ira “Ike” Rice, Jr. on February 14, 1961 at Harlingen Air Force Base in Texas and he survives.

Judy was a 1960 graduate of South Park High School in Buffalo, NY, a member of Lady of Grace in Maricopa, AZ, St. Charles Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society. She was also a member of the OWC from 1963 to 1984 and of the Women’s International Bowling Congress from 1958 – 2009.

Judy was employed as an office cashier for Murphy & Company, Buffalo, NY 1958 – 1960, a teller and assistant branch manager with the Peru Trust Company from 1979-1996 and served as a payroll clerk for American Stationary from 1999 until her retirement in 2012.  

Judy coached youth bowling at  Hillcrest Lanes and Grissom Air Force Base from 1974 – 1998 and she was a licensed realtor for the state of Indiana. She also served as the Parkview Hight’s Treasurer for many years.

Surviving in addition to her husband Ike are her sons Peter Rice and his wife Tresha of Peru and Brian Rice of Peru; her daughter Lynne Stanforth and her husband Kyle of Casa Grande, AZ; a brother Jay  Schroeder and his wife Terri of Orlando, FL; grandchildren Chanelle Stanforth, Devon (Erica) Stanforth, Peyton (Myreete) Stanforth, Amanda Rice and her fiancé Charlie Lawson, Allison (Sam) Dick, Kristen Rice, and Andrew Rice; and great grandchildren Penelope Stanforth, Theo Stanforth, Drake & Keegan Parker, Beckett Spear, Jaiden, Gavin and Noah Spear, Gwenyth Stanforth, Isla Stanforth and Weston Dick.

A service celebrating the life of Judy C. Rice will be held at 4:00 PM, Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 W. Main St., Peru with Rev. Kyle Nederer officiating. Burial will be in the Marion National Cemetery. Family and friends will gather from 2:00 to 4:00 PM Wednesday at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made through the funeral home to St. Charles Catholic Church.
