Judith Ann “Judy” McKnight, age 82, of Peru. Ind., born June 14, 1941 to Ernest and Vivian (nee Spohn) Mattox in Auburn, Ind. passed away on Monday, May 13, 2024 at Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, Mo., after a brief illness while visiting her family for the Christmas holidays. She was brought home on January 26 and lived the last few months with her family.

Judy grew up in Peru, Ind. and was a diet technician at Duke’s Memorial Hospital for several years. She met the love of her life, James McKnight, and they married on July 26, 1975. Judy’s favorite past-times included fishing on her boat the “Gemini” on Lake Manitou in Rochester, Ind., and visiting her family. Judy loved her family fiercely. Always a very spiritual person, Judy was confirmed and baptized at the Easter Vigil at St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church on April 9, 2023.

She was preceded in death by her brother Davey Lee Mattox, and her son Rick Woodward; father Ernest Mattox; and mother Vivian Noftsger.

Judy is survived by her beloved husband Jim McKnight, her son Mike (Pam) Woodward, daughter Sherry (Paulo) D’Amico; grandchildren Melissa (Roger, Sr.) Young, Joel (Mylinda) Woodward, Christopher (Lyndsey) Sherman, Heather (Matthew) Schuster; great-grandchildren Roger Young, Jr., Marie Young, Tyler Woodward, Courtney Woodward, Nicholas Sherman, Abigail Sherman, Schuster twins on the way; and her sister Sharon (Dave) Grisez.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am, Monday, May 20, 2024, at St. Clare Catholic Church, with Rev. James Deiters presiding.

A graveside service will be held at 11 A.M., EST, at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Peru, Ind.
