Judith “Judy” Kay Alley, 82, of Peru went to be with her Heavenly Father at 2:22 pm on Wednesday, November 3, 2021, at Dukes Memorial Hospital of Peru, surrounded by her family, ending a life that was full of joy, love, and faith.
Born January 3, 1939, in Peru, Indiana, she was the daughter of Richard and Miriam Benner (stepmother) and Vivian and Dale Yoder (stepfather). She was married to the love of her life, Terry M. Alley on February 14, 1965, at the First Christian Church in Peru. Judy was a life-long resident of Peru and was a member of the First Baptist Church for over 50 years where she served in various roles. She graduated from Peru High School in 1957 then went on to Secretarial school in South Bend Indiana. She worked in various industries as a secretary/bookkeeper and finished her career at Glaziers Furniture Store.
Judy was an amazing stay at home mom for many years. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and sewing for her family. She loved watching all her grandkids play in various sports including baseball, basketball, cheerleading, and tennis. She was known for her special laugh, and she always cheered loudly from the stands. Judy enjoyed gathering as a family for all occasions. She and Terry enjoyed cooking together and they passed on many family recipes including the chocolate mayonnaise cake which will be enjoyed for generations to come.
She is survived by her stepmother, Miriam Benner. Peru; two daughters, Becky Blanton, Peru; Cathy (Mark) Hardwick, Yorktown; brother-in-law, Richard “Dick” Alley, Fishers; two sisters, Diana Priest and Johnnie Wallace; five grandchildren, Josh Gilleland, Peru; Stephan Taylor, Fort Wayne; Brianna Taylor, Peru; Halie and Bryce Hardwick, Yorktown; five great-grandchildren, Kaden, Karter, and Kaisleigh Gilleland, Aria Disney, and Coen Noftsger; cousins, Carol Ann (Keith) Eckensberger, Lynn (Gary) Michaels, and many nieces, nephews and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her husband, Terry M Alley; sister, Kristy Kerns; three brothers; her sister-in-law, Kathy Alley; her mother, father and stepfather. Memorial contributions can be made to the First Baptist Church of Peru, Indiana.
A service celebrating the life of Judith Kay Alley will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 13, 2021 at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 W. Main St., Peru with Pastor Robert Adelsperger officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Family and friends will gather from 10:00 – 11:00 AM, Saturday at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home.
