John "Dave" Wahlig

John “Dave” Wahlig, 87, of Peru passed away at 6:59 PM, Sunday, December 11, 2022, at his residence. He was born in Peru on May 9, 1935, the son of Omer and Alice (Thoennes) Wahlig. Dave married Carole “Sue” Dye on September 3, 1960, at St. Charles Catholic Church in Peru and she preceded him on September 25, 2022.

Dave was the proud owner of Wahlig Body Shop in Peru, IN from 1962 to 1973 and taught Body Shop Repair at Upper Wabash Vocational School. A man of great faith and integrity, he was an active member of St. Charles Catholic Church where he loved to help with the St. Charles Annual Bazaar. Dave was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Denver Lions Club, Maennerchor and Elks Lodge. He loved watching the Indianapolis Colts play and enjoyed playing golf in his spare time.

Dave is survived by his sons Jay Michael Wahlig and his wife Gemma of Arlington, TN and Jon Christopher Wahlig of Peru. In addition to his wife Carole “Sue” Wahlig, Dave was preceded by his parents.

According to his wishes, services will not be held.
