John A. Shrock, 79 of Miami County, IN passed away on Monday, September 14, 2020 at 4:54 P.M. at his home. He was born on June 11, 1941 in Peru, IN to Laurel and Virginia Shrock. When John was stationed at Laughlin Air Force Base, TX he met Brenda Kay Baylor and they were married in Smithville, TX on August 26, 1967 and she survives.
John graduated from Clay Township in 1963 and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. John served in the Vietnam War and his military decorations include the National Defense Service Medal, the Air Force Good Conduct Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Commendation Medal and the Air Force Medal. John retired from Conkle Pontiac Kokomo in 2009 where he worked as a mechanic. At age 10, John discovered his capability to motorize his red wagon and found a love for working on cars. He especially enjoyed working on Pontiac Fiero’s and had a collection of them as well as International Harvester tractors.
John is survived by his wife Kay and sons Mark (Carrie) Shrock of Kokomo, IN, Kevin Shrock of Downers Grove, IL, and Jason (Lynn) Shrock of Kokomo, IN and one granddaughter Elizabeth Shrock.
A service celebrating the life of John A. Shrock will be held at 3:30 P.M., Saturday, September 19, 2020 at Laird-Eddy Funeral Home, 201 N. Main St, Amboy with Pastor Steve Zerbe presiding. Burial will follow at Mast Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Miami County Military Rites Unit. Visitation will be from 1:30 P.M. to 3:30 P.M. on Saturday at the Laird-Eddy Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made through the Laird-Eddy funeral home to Loree Church of the Brethren.
