John M. Frankovich, Sr., 79, of Peru, IN passed away at 2:44 AM, Sunday, April 25, 2021 at Wellbrooke of Kokomo. He was born in Indianapolis, IN on June 8, 1941 the son of Adolph Edward and Jeanette Harris Frankovich.

John graduated from Peru High School in 1958 with a certification as a Machinist. He was employed at Kokomo Chrysler Transmission Plant  for 37 years working as a Machine Operator and Inspector for the first 20 years and then as a highly trained Gauge Repairman through his remaining time there; retiring in 1993.  John attended Lincoln Technical Institute in 1970 learning to build and repair engines and transmissions. He owned and operated his own business, J & J Engine Repair,  in Galveston, IN.

A devout catholic, John was an active member of St. Charles Catholic Church where he was a regular at Saturday Mass. John was a Life Member of the NRA and a certified NRA rifle and pistol instructor; Life Member of Law Enforcement Alliance of America; member of the John Birch Society, Miami County Tea Party, Wabash Wildlife and Sportsman Association, Indiana Sheriff’s Association, Indiana State Trappers Association and a certified Land and Water Trapper.

Survivors include a daughter Darlene Frankovich of El Mirage, AZ, a son John M. Frankovich, Jr. of Peru; sisters Carol Louise Frankovich of Ft. Wayne and Judy Whitman of Ft. Wayne; grandsons Matt Frankovich and Clinton Furguson; and great grandsons Nathan and Isaiah Frankovich. He was preceded in death by his infant son James Michael.

A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of John M. Frankovich, Sr. will be held at 10:30 AM Friday, April 30, 2021, at the St. Charles Catholic Church, 58 W. 5th St., Peru with Fr. Adam Mauman officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Family and friends will gather from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday, April 29, 2021, at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 W. Main St., Peru. There will be a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM, Thursday, at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made through the funeral home to St. Vincent de Paul.
