Joan E. (Daniels) Guyer

Joan Edith Guyer, 91, of Peru peacefully passed away at 11:45 AM, Wednesday, February 3, 2021. Joan was born on August 2, 1929 the daughter of Howard and Edith Daniels. She married John R. Guyer on May 21, 1988 and he preceded her in death on March 2, 2015. Joan was a 1947 graduate of Peru High School, a member of the Main Street UMC, and a life member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She retired from Peru Trust Company after 20 plus years of service, and she then split her time between Inverness, FL and Indiana. She enjoyed growing flowers, reading, bicycling and boating. Joan was a loyal and compassionate friend. She told it like it was and everyone knew where they stood with her. All who knew her were most impressed with her remarkable strength, resilience and pure grit. Joan is survived by her son David, his wife Andrea, their children Danielle, Chris and Julianne Nation; her daughter Dorann Nation and Al Merritt. She was preceded in death by her parents and her twin sister Judith McKinnley. A private service celebrating the life of Joan Guyer will be held on February 13, 2021 at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home with burial at Ever Rest Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be made through the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home to the Alzheimer’s Association.
