Jeff D. DaWalt

Jeff Dee Dawalt, 55, of Peru, passed away unexpectedly at 2:46 PM, Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at his residence. He was born in Peru on July 16, 1970, the son of Cary and Alice Dawalt.

Jeff was a 1989 graduate of North Miami High School. He was a major advocate to the north Miami athletics, especially the football program and continued to show his support watching his nieces and nephews play sports.

Jeff spent a majority of his adulthood living in the Indianapolis area where he ran and supported many small businesses, he continued his passion when moving back home and helping his sister Jodi run Dawalt’s Flooring and Blinds. He was very passionate about his customers and loved meeting a new person who he would always treat as family.

Jeff was a die hard Indianapolis Colts fan, even during the rough seasons, he loved cheering for the Indiana Pacers mostly the Pacemates, Chicago Cubs, Indiana Hoosiers and Notre Dame Fighting Irish. When summer time would come upon us, you would find Jeff at the pond fishing or on a golf course shooting at least 10 over par with his dad, Cary.

Jeff was a true family man, he loved his parents to no end. He was the middle child of 5 and cherished every one of his siblings. Jeff may not have had children of his own, but he treated his nieces and nephews as if they were his and was so beyond proud of every single one of them. His greatest treasures were his great nieces and nephews who he loved endlessly and they loved their Uncle Jeffo just as much. Jeff valued his friendships and enjoyed being with them, he was always the life of the party.

Jeff was always one to support and encourage anyone he came across. He was a true, kind soul and loved deeply. His family is at peace knowing Jeff is reunited with the two most important people in his life, his Mom and Dad.

Jeff is survived by his siblings Garry Dawalt and his wife Kathy of Peru, Dale Dawalt and his wife Tina of California, Jodi Grant and her husband Dave of Peru, and Cara Dawalt of Peru. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and nephews, and his loving French Bulldog, Lucca. Jeff was preceded in death by his parents, Cary and Alice, and his step-mom Carol.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 5:00 PM, Saturday, June 27, 2026, at the Peru Moose Lodge #249.

In lieu of flowers, love offerings may be made to the funeral home to assist with funeral expenses.
