Jean P Trapp

Jean P. Washburn Trapp, 93, of Peru, IN passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday morning March 5, 2020.  She was born in Peru on October 9, 1926, the daughter of Tracy and Catherine Cassell Bennett.  Jean married George Washburn on February 6, 1947 and he preceded her in death on January 5, 1957.  On September 15, 1961, she married Robert Trapp and he preceded her in death on December 3, 2013.

Jean graduated from Peru High School in 1944 and worked for Wabash Valley Bank & Trust  in Peru.  She was a member of the First Christian Church and the Psi Iota Psi Sorority, Peru Chapter.  Jean loved playing bridge, ballroom dancing and she was a huge Purdue Boilermaker Basketball fan.

Jean is survived by her children; George Steven Washburn of Newburgh, IN, Ann (John) Parker of Lafayette, IN and Julie Magee of Bloomington, IN, grandchildren; Renee (Brian) Altman, Major Patrick (Holly) Parker and Michael (Siobhan) Washburn and five great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, two brothers; Earl and Lewis Bennett, one sister; Kathleen Frihart and son-in-law Robert Magee.

A service celebrating the life of Jean P. Washburn Trapp will be held at 11:00AM on Monday, March 9, 2020 at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 W. Main St. in Peru, IN with Pastor Evan Strong officiating.  Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Peru.  A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 8, 2020 from 2:00 to 4:00PM at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made through the funeral home to The Scratching Post cat rescue organization, 600 Chili Avenue in Peru.
