Janet Vincent Obituary

Janet Ann Larrison Vincent, 89, of Amboy, Indiana, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2026. She was born July 28, 1936 to Donald Ray & Isabel (Miller) Larrison. Janet was a 1954 graduate of Clay township High School. She married Wendell H. Vincent at the Amboy Friends Church on July 31, 1954. They spent their first few months together in Waukegan, IL while Wendell was in basic training. When he was transferred to Germany, Janet stayed in the U.S. to deliver their first child. She & Wendell started farming in Miami County when he was discharged from the army. She was an active partner in the farming operation – helping haul grain, keeping the grain dryer running, helping with livestock, record keeping, etc. She raised 4 children – staying involved in all of their activities and leading the 4-H club. She was Trustee of Harrison Township for several years and a member of Miami County Extension Homemakers. A faithful follower of Jesus, she was a lifetime member of Amboy Friends Church. She enjoyed music – playing the piano & organ and participating in choir events. Her greatest joy was knowing all her children love Jesus. She was accepting, welcoming, and gentle with a great sense of humor. She was a devoted Mom & grandmother. She loved being with her grandchildren and organized a “Cousins Camp Out” every summer (sometimes sleeping outside the camper door on a lawn chair to keep the little ones from getting into trouble). Survivors include her three daughters, Stephanie (Michael) Fruth of Amboy, Lezlie (Kevin) Woods of Tipton, and Beth (Scott) Getzin of Amboy; son, Roger (Lisa) Vincent of Amboy; sisters-in-laws, Joyce Larrison of Cicero and Virginia Vincent of Freeport, Maine. Grandchildren Brad (Laura) Fruth, Emily (Clint) Tumbleson, Stephen (Taylor) Fruth, Jordan (Karen) Woods, Hannah (Grant) Frick, Parker (Lyndsay) Woods, Rachel (Nathan) Warner, Kelsey Getzin, Devin (Chelsea) Vincent & Sean Vincent. Great-grandchildren Isabel Fruth, Ruby Fruth, Evelyn Fruth, Ina Fruth, Stella Tumbleson, Adelaide Tumbleson, Rose Tumbleson, Hayden Fruth, Madison Woods, Charlotte Woods, Olivia Woods, Levi Warner, Finn Warner, Lorelai Vincent, Bryn Vincent. Our love & thanks go to her special caregiver, Wilma Kauffman. She was preceded in death by her spouse, Wendell H. Vincent, parents and brother, Robert Larrison. A service celebrating the life of Janet Ann Vincent will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, July 11, 2026 at the Amboy Friends Church, 110 East Pennsylvania St., Amboy with Pastor Roy Jones officiating.
