James Robert Scott, 85, of Converse passed away at 6:55 PM, Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at his residence. He was born in Amboy, IN on December 6, 1936, the son of Walter and Dorothy (Reynolds) Scott. James married Geraldine Mauldon on April 25, 1955, and she preceded him in death on November 3, 1995.
James was a U.S. Army Veteran and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal. After serving in the military, he went on to work at Foster Forbes Glass Company, Rigdon/Box Sawmill and Treaty Sawmill. In his spare time, James loved to hunt and fish, especially in Arkansas which was his favorite place to go. He also enjoyed cooking up whatever he caught on his expeditions. James also enjoyed reading books and listening to music, but most of all he loved and adored his grand babies who were his life.
James is survived by son John (Celeste) Scott of Swayzee, IN; grandchildren Monte (Julie) Scott of LaFontaine, IN, Jamie Scott of Marion, IN, Misty (Steve) Ringo of Amboy, IN and Heidi (Darrell) Hobbs of Amboy, IN; great grandchildren Branden Hobbs, Kaylee Shively, Kendra Scott, Tyler Hobbs, Cody Scott, Alexis Hobbs, Alyssa Scott, Derek Scott, Dajuan Randolph, Marshawn Randolph, Darquan Randolph, Da’Vontae Randolph, My’Ron Randolph and Ethan Ringo; and great-great grandchildren Layla (No), Zedric, Savaya, Carter, Maxton, Kason, Easton, Huxlei, Avianna, Knox, Blessing, Serenity and Darquan, Jr.
In addition to his wife Geraldine, James was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Joan, Janet, Marsha and Bonnie and his brother Fredrick.
Family and friends will gather from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Saturday, May 28, 2022, at the Laird-Eddy Funeral Home, 201 N. Main St., Amboy, IN. Military Honors will be provided by the Miami County Military Rites Unit at 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at the Laird-Eddy Funeral Home.
