James Lennon, 89, passed away at 12:43 P.M., March 28, 2025 at his son’s Ron residence in Macy, IN. He was born in Montpelier, OH on September 15, 1935, the son of Paul and Emma (Patterson) Lennon. Jim married Beverly Blackman on May 27, 1954 and she preceded him in death on Feb. 2, 2020. Jim was a 1953 graduate of Peru High School and attended the Peru Church of the Brethren. Beverly and Jim enjoyed many years as snowbirds traveling to Alabama. He was a retired Signal Supervisor on the Norfolk Southern Railroad and a member of the Literary Aide. Family, above all else, was the most important thing in Jim’s life. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and gardener. Jim is survived by his children Ron Lennon of Macy, Randy (Sherry) Lennon of Mexia, TX, Richard (Hilda) Lennon of Peru and Rhonda (Larry) Opp of Peru; grandchildren Alicia Gallahan, Christy (Grant) Brock, James (Stephanie) Opp, Kayla (Preston) Chewning, Michael (Christina) Lennon, Jason Lennon, Jason Walker, Lyndi (Keith) Cook, Jordan Cook, Taylor (Lindsey) Cook and Brian Lennon; 16 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Beverly, a son Rodney Lennon and a sister Linda Salmon. A service celebrating the life of James Lennon will be held at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, April 3, 2025 at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 W. Main St., Peru with Pastor Matt Myers officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Family and friends will gather from 10:00 A.M., to 1:00 P.M. at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, Thursday, prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made through the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
