Heather Marie (McCord) Berger, age 42, of Peru, Indiana, was born on October 25th, 1981, to Janet (Crowe) and Timothy McCord in Indianapolis, Indiana. Heather passed away, unexpectedly, the evening of May 13th, 2024, at her home.

Heather grew up in Peru, Indiana and was a Medical Records Clerk at the Miami County Correctional Facility. Heather loved all things “Real Housewives” and could see the humor in just about everything. She also loved to cook and make other people feel loved. Heather loved her family and friends deeply. She made many connections in life, but Nancy Bales and Jeff Tyson were very special to her throughout the years of their friendship and meant a lot to her.

The one thing that anyone who truly knew Heather will attest to, is that she had a big heart. She had an intense desire to love and be loved. Her caring and kindness in life will never be forgotten.

Heather was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, David and Nancy Crowe, her paternal grandparents, Richard and Mary McCord, her father, Timothy McCord, her Uncle Michael Crowe, and her niece, Buffy Butte.

Heather is survived by her son, DJ Hayes, her daughter, Reagan Berger, her mother, Janet (Jon) Hayes, her sister, Shannon (Christopher) Butte, her brother, Paul (Jenna) Hayes, her aunt, Sharon (Dana) Crowe Ferraro, and many other nieces, nephews, and cousins who loved her.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to any charity that supports mental health resources or domestic abuse survivors. Heather knew the importance of therapy, mental health help, and surviving abusive relationships. Donating to a fund to help others is a great way to honor her.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, May 24th, 2024, at Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 West Main Street, Peru, IN 46970, at 7 pm, with visitation from 5pm to 7pm.
