George R. Koehler, (MSGT, USAF ret.) 75, of rural Kokomo passed away at 9:57 AM, Saturday, November 6, 2021, at Ascension St. Vincent, Kokomo. He was born on February 2, 1946 in Youngstown, OH, the son of Earl and Genevieve Cole Koehler. George married Jeanne Jackson on April 13, 1967 and she preceded him in death on January 7, 2018. He then married Leslie Hughes Scott on August 18, 2019 and she survives.
George was a member of McGrawsville Community Church and a retired USAF MSGT. His military decorations include the Air Force Commendation Medal with on oak leaf cluster, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with four oak leaf clusters, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon with three oak leaf clusters. Following retirement from the Air Force, George was a civil service employee and also worked for the Maconaquah School Corporation. He was an avid fisherman and devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Surviving in addition to his wife Leslie is a daughter Patty Willson and her husband Don of Bunker Hill, IN; son Tony Koehler and his wife Cennet of Warner Robins, GA; step children Rick (Heather) Scott of Noblesville, IN , Rachel (Scott) Sand of Avon, IN, Aaron (Melissa)Scott of Vancouver, WA, Adam (April) Scott of Richmond, IN and Andrew (Sara) Scott of Indianapolis, IN; sister Sally Ann (Roger) Dempsey of St. Paul, MN and grandchildren Wesley (Danielle) Willson, Wayde (Makayla) Willson, Wyatt (Kaelyn) Willson, Chris Koehler, Justin Koehler, and Jordan Koehler.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jeanne and grandson Zachary Koehler.
A service celebrating the life of George R. Koehler will be held at 9:00 AM, Friday, November 12, 2021 at the McGrawsville Community Church, 9377 S. 300 E. Amboy with Pastor Robert Land officiating. Military graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday at the Marion National Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Miami County Military Rites Unit. Family and friends will gather from 4:00 – 8:00 PM, Thursday, November 11, 2021 at the McGrawsville Community Church.
