George “Ed” Holland, 81, of Peru passed away at 12:24 PM, Sunday, November 14, 2021 at Dukes Memorial Hospital. He was born in Peru on November 22, 1939 the son of George and Dorothy Anderson Holland.
Ed was a 1957 graduate of Peru High School, a US Army Veteran and a retired Norfolk and Southern Engineer. He was an avid sports enthusiast and a diehard IU basketball and Chicago Cubs fan. Ed lived life fully, setting an example grounded in great personal courage, wit and integrity. He never met a stranger, had a smile that would warm your heart and thoroughly enjoyed talking with people.
He is survived by his significant other Brenda Fleener, an aunt Pat Key and her husband Carl of Ohio and special friend Patrick Gallahan.
A memorial service celebrating the life of George “Ed” Holland will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, November 20, 2021 at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 W. Main St., Peru with Ed’s close personal friend Pastor George Dinkel officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM, Saturday at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made through the funeral home to Riley Children’s Hospital or Miami County Helping Hands.
