Gene Corn

Gene Corn, 94, of Amboy, IN, passed away at 9:15 AM, Saturday, July 20, 2019 at Wesleyan Health Care Center, Marion, IN.  He was born in Wabash, IN on June 4, 1925 the  son of Benjamin and Hazel Bitzel Corn.  Gene married Phyllis Joan Fenstermaker in Roseburg, IN on May 23, 1948 and she preceded him in death on May 18, 2015.

Gene attended the Converse Church of Christ, Converse, IN and a retired Wabash General Tire employee.  He had a lifelong love of the outdoors and particularly enjoyed working in his garden and sharing his produce with his friends throughout the Amboy community.  Gene showed us how to live with faith filled simplicity.

He is survived by daughters Penny (Dennis) Myers, Leesburg, IN, Susan Cook, Marion, IN, Colleen (Kevin) Summers, Greentown, IN and Jolleen (Wayne) Guy, Marion, IN; a son Richard (Lois) Corn, Amboy, IN; a sister Jackie Wilson, Kokomo, IN; 12 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Phyllis, a son in law John Cook, a great-granddaughter, Madlyn "Maddie" Lake, 5 brothers and 8 sisters.

Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. Thursday, July 25, 2019 at the Converse Church of Christ, 301 E Wabash St., Converse, IN. A service celebrating the life of Gene Corn will be at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, at the Converse Church of Christ with Pastor John Clark officiating. Burial will be in the Park Lawn Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Converse Church of Christ Scholarship Fund or the Marion First Church of the Nazarene Building Fund, Marion, IN.
