Gary N. Loe, 73 of Peru passed away at 1:00 AM, Thursday, January 26, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous 6.5 year battle against cancer. He was born in Peru on March 25, 1949, the son of Paul J. and Antoinette (Cappoli) Loe. Gary married his sweetheart Lisa Downing on October 25, 1974, at St. Charles Catholic Church and she survives.
Gary graduated from Peru High School in 1967 and attended Ball State University. After returning to Peru, he worked at Square D for 5 years and was a mail carrier in Peru for over 39 years. He was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church. He was a life member of both the Peru Moose and Peru Maennerchor. He served on the Peru Circus Board, St. Charles School Board and the Peru High School Athletic Board. He coached several sports for Peru Community Schools, was the score keeper for both the boys and girls Peru High School basketball teams and the Peru High School baseball team. Gary enjoyed spending time with his wife of 48 years, Lisa, and watching his grandchildren participate in several activities. He was an avid sports fan and loved IU basketball and the Peru Tigers.
Surviving in addition to his wife Lisa are daughters Nicole Rodriguez (Teejay Conley) of Peru, Mandi Bielanski and her husband Fil of Noblesville, Amber Loe of Peru, grandchildren Andrew Rodriguez, Mason Adkins, Colt Conley of Peru, Samantha Lovall and Max Bielanski of Noblesville and several nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson Froy Olivo.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, February 2nd at St. Charles Catholic Church, 58 W. 5th Street, Peru, IN with Rev. Adam Mauman officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Family and friends will gather from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, February 1st at Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 West Main Street, Peru IN and will conclude with a prayer service at 8:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made through Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 W. Main St., Peru, IN to Peru High School Athletics or St. Charles Catholic Church. The family would like to thank all of the doctors, nurses, hospital staff and Guardian Angels Hospice Care for their love and care of Gary.
