Douglas K. Dials, 67, of Peru, passed away at his residence at 3:33 P.M., Friday, August 27, 2021. He was born in Wabash, IN on June 30, 1954, the son of Gerald and Virginia Staggs Dials. Doug married Clare Olinger in Wabash, IN on June 5, 2005 and she survives.
Doug was a member of the St. Charles Catholic Church and worked at Container-Paperwork’s in Wabash for 27 years prior to his retirement. He was a 1972 graduate of Southwood High School. Doug’s love for sick children led him to do charity work for Riley’s Children Hospital.
Surviving in addition to his wife Clare are his children Emmily (Marcus) Musser and their children Lucas and Carter; Julia (Myron) Galbreath and their children Devon, Adrionna, Shilyn, Payton and Lily; Douglas (Kelli) Shepherd and their children Skylar, Alex, Rylie, and Finnegan; Carri Dials; Heather (Ed) Rathbun and their children Kaden and Karson. Doug was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Jerry Dials.
A Mass of Christian burial celebrating the life of Douglas K. Dials will be held at the St. Charles Catholic Church, 58 W. 5th St., Peru at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, September 2, 2021 with Rev. Adam Mauman officiating. Burial will be in the St. Charles Catholic Cemetery. Family and friends will gather from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M., Wednesday, September 1st at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 W. Main St., Peru. There will be a Prayer Service at 8:00 P.M., Wednesday at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made through the funeral home to Riley Children’s Hospital or St. Vincent DePaul Building Fund.
