Dorothy L. Eldridge, 95, of Peru passed away at 8:46 AM, Saturday, October 10, 2020, at the Woodbridge Health Campus, Logansport, IN. She was born in Peru on March 10, 1925, the daughter of Frederick “Fritz” and Ruby Anderson Schmidt. Dorothy married Robert W. Eldridge at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Peru on Dec. 11, 1944 and he preceded her in death on June 19, 2017.
Dorothy was a 1942 graduate of Peru High School and a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. Dorothy and her husband Bob lovingly raised four children. Family was very important to Dorothy and she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother evidenced by her presence at school and sports functions. She loved her family unconditionally. She was selfless in her life, genuine in her interest and care for family and the people around her. Dorothy enjoyed gardening in her flower beds and mowing her yard.
She is survived by daughters Sheri Moore and Darcy (Bruce) Ashby of Logansport, a son Richard Eldridge of Peru, a daughter-in-law Carol Eldridge of Logansport, a sister Iris Smith of Gilead, and grandchildren Rob Moore, Melissa Robertson, Karrie Smith, Jennifer Sweet, Jeffrey Eldridge, Richard Eldridge II , Ryan Eldridge, Tonya Rennier, Tisha Larkin, Tina Archer, Shane Dennis, Jeremy Dennis, Josh Ulery, Allison Ashby, Cale Ashby and Ethan Ashby. Several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert, a son Robert Jeffery Eldridge and sisters Mary Whitaker and Donnabell Parrett.
A service celebrating the life of Dorothy L. Eldridge we be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday,
October 14, 2020, at the St. John’s Lutheran Church, 181 W. Main St. Peru, IN, with Pastor Kenneth Greenwald officiating. Graveside services with be at 2:00 PM, Wednesday at the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery. There will be a private family visitation at 6:00PM, Tuesday at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 W. Main, Peru, IN.
