Donald B. Hunt, 90, of Amboy, IN, passed away peacefully at home, at 1:40 PM, Monday, December 16, 2019. He was born in Miami County on February 20, 1929, the son of LeOtis and Clara Baldwin Hunt. Don married Phyllis Whitlock on October 8, 1950 in her parents’ home and she survives. Don was a birthwright member of the Amboy Friends Church and served on various committees and the board of trustees for a number of years. He was a retired Miami County Farmer and drove a school bus for the Oak Hill Schools for 29 years. After retiring as a bus driver, he served as a machinic for the Oak Hill Schools for another 8 and half years. He also ran his own saw mill, photographed many weddings, Converse Fair races, church gatherings and proms. He celebrated his 90th birthday in February with family and friends and he and Phyllis celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary in October. Don enjoyed fishing with his sons, sons in law, grandsons and greatgrandchildren. He had a collection of tropical fish in his home, that he thoroughly enjoyed watching. An avid woodworker, Don delighted in doing special creations requested by his children. Mrs. Hunt lovingly cared for Don during his last months of failing health. Family Life Care Hospice assisted with his care for the last 2 ½ months and their thoughtful, loving care is greatly appreciated by the family. Surviving in addition to his wife, Phyllis, are children Sally (Fred) Wolinsky of Kalona, IA, Jack (Kathy) Hunt of Amboy, Zelda (Clifford) Glenn of Wichita, KS and Russell (Pamela) Hunt of Noblesville, IN; grandchildren Ryan Hunt, Gretchen (Ervin) Battle, Katie (Adam) Wallace, Nathan (Sommer) Hunt, Peter Glenn and Michael (Cassie) Wolinsky; nine great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law Max (Linda) Whitlock, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Bryon Lee Hunt. A service celebrating the life of Donald B. Hunt will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, December 21, 2019 at the Amboy Friends Church, 110 E. Pennsylvania St., Amboy, IN with Pastor Dwight Elliott officiating. Burial will be in Amboy Friends Cemetery. Family and friends will gather from 3:00 to 7:00 P.M., Friday, December 20, 2019 at the Amboy Friends Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Amboy Friends Church or the Amboy Volunteer Fire Department. Arrangement have been entrusted to the Laird-Eddy Funeral Home, Amboy.
