Dixie L. Eckelbarger, 76, of Peru, IN passed away at the Blair Ridge Health Campus in Peru at 8:15 PM, Friday, April 7, 2023. She was born in Peru on January 25, 1947, the daughter of Richard and Delora Vickery Gable. Dixie married Phillip Eckelbarger at the First Baptist Church in Peru on June 22, 1968 and he survives. Dixie was a 1965 graduate of Peru High School and had worked at the family business Vickery Tape and Label Company. She cherished time spent with her grandchildren, was an avid reader and puzzle enthusiast. Additionally, Dixie thoroughly enjoyed time spent at Lake Manitou. Surviving in addition to her husband Phil are daughters Stacey Sarver and her husband Chris of Peru and Debra Brown of Peru, a brother Mike Gable and his wife Kathy of Peru, grandchildren Andy (Mary) Brown, Megan (Matt) Mock, Courtney Sarver and Blake (Meagan) Sarver and great-grandchildren Michelle Rasor, Brody Rasor and Mason Mock. She was preceded in death by her parents and a great-granddaughter Mya Brown. A service celebrating the life of Dixie L. Eckelbarger will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday April 12, 2023, at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 W. Main, Peru, In with Pastor Kenny Cole officiating, Burial will be in Mt Hope Cemetery. Family and friends will gather from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM Wednesday at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made through the funeral home to St. Vincent de Paul.
