Dennis I. Day, 73, passed away peacefully in his home on October 6, 2025. He was born January 8, 1952, the son of Ishmael and Loretta Shain Day. Dennis married Julia McRorie on April 7, 1973, and she survives. Dennis was a US Air Force veteran and his decorations include the National Defense Service Medal, the Air Force Good Conduct Medal, and the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award. Upon return to civilian life, Dennis became an over the road truck driver, retiring in March of 2023. Dennis was a motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed restoring and driving “old cars.” Family was very important to Dennis, and he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He lived life fully, setting an example grounded in great personal courage, wit, and integrity. Surviving in addition to his wife Julie, is a son Jaune Day of Royal Center; a brother Harold Day of Clarksville, IN; grandchildren Jalyn Day, Kaley Day, Michael Bishop, Carolyn Burkmire, and Morgan Peterson; great-grandchildren Ashlynn Peterson, Rylan Peterson, Harlyn Peterson, and Paul Luke Semon. He was preceded in death by his parents and two daughters, Carolyn Fulmis and Sharon Bosley. A memorial service celebrating the life of Dennis I. Day will be held at 6:00 PM, Saturday, October 11, 2025, at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 West Main Street, Peru, with Pastor Michael Williams officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 2:00 – 6:00 PM at the funeral home. Military Honors provided by the Miami County Military Rites Unit will be held at 2:00 PM, and there will be a Masonic Service at 5:30 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made through the funeral home to Miami County Helping Hands.
